Getinge Infection Control (GETINGE) is one of the three business areas within GETINGE AB, a publicly listed, Swedish-based group of companies. The Getinge Infection Control business area consists of two divisions: Healthcare and Life Sciences. The Getinge Infection Control organization consists of 29 subsidiaries on six continents and over 230 distributors and partner companies in sales and service.
Business Situation & Challenge
Getinge needed to find a system that would centralize all data from various departments and create reliable, consistent reports, and associated processes. Streamlining its corporate data-management system would enable senior executives and management to make strategic business decisions more quickly and more accurately.

Getinge’s long-term Business Intelligence (BI) vision included the following goals:
Getinge selected Cognos as its strategic platform for BI and determined that it needed to create an executive dashboard, which would provide senior management with the key performance metrics necessary to properly manage the business and make strategic decisions quickly, confidently, and efficiently. The dashboard, built using Cognos 8, would reflect metrics across business units, customer segments, and geographical areas—it would also focus on four key areas: revenue, orders, customers, and products. The dashboard would drive user adoption of the Cognos toolset and be the first step in the process for a standard definition of key performance metrics across the business.

Solution
After reviewing several options, Getinge selected Inergex to help support and guide its BI initiatives. Inergex already has a long-term relationship with Getinge; during the last several years, the two companies have worked on several successful BI-related projects. In addition, Inergex has extensive experience developing dashboards, designing BI solutions, and creating BI-associated processes.
When the project kicked off, Inergex focused on a solution that would provide short- and long-term support and objective adherence. The turnkey project focused on working closely with the Getinge IT and business teams to deliver the following high-level elements:

Getinge’s executive dashboard was fully implemented, and the project was a great success. Inergex met all the objectives and expectations of the executive sponsors, stakeholders, and end users with the Cognos software solution. The dashboard is now resident on key manager’s desktops for daily viewing and use.
